Prof Miksic first arrived in Singapore for an archaeological excavation at Fort Canning in 1984 and has since led or co-led over a dozen similar projects, including those at Empress Place and Old Parliament House. His writings, lectures, interviews, and artefacts found tell the story of what once served as Singapore’s capital city.

The 71-year-old American author expressed his awe upon winning the prize, writing his book for those who had helped in his excavations as well as helping the general public understand the significance of discoveries made here. Furthermore, he intends to establish a website specializing in archaeological finds from Singapore.

William kept with the sustainability theme by wearing an Alexander McQueen suit from 10 years prior, walking down the “green carpet.” Alongside him were actor Hannah Waddingham in a dress by designer McCartney from an older collection and actresses Sterling K Brown and Bebe Rexha wearing recycled materials.

Prince Charles traveled alone this time to Singapore for a week-long series of events to promote the Earthshot Prize that he and the Royal Foundation charity created to accelerate solutions that can repair our planet. On this trip, he met with business leaders and entrepreneurs to explore how science and technology can help reduce climate change.

On his visit to Mediacorp Campus, Prince Mohammed will meet the winners of the 2023 Singapore Prize: Accion Andina, GRST, WildAid Marine Program, S4S Technologies and Boomitra. He will also witness the Rain Vortex, the world’s largest indoor waterfall which has been lit green to commemorate this special event. At this ceremony, he will also witness the relaunch of Singapore Pools lottery game – now free and offering an enhanced customer experience. As part of its launch, Singapore Pools’ new lottery game will also implement on-demand ticket printing to provide customers with quicker winning numbers and payouts as well as reduced waste and improved security measures. This system will be gradually introduced across its outlets with the first stage slated for March 2024.
