Although the government recently eased social distancing rules further, many public pools may remain closed this summer according to a union. According to Hong Kong Recreation and Sports Professionals General Union estimates, around 20 pools had warned their training institutions they may not fully open this month due to a shortage of lifeguards. Furthermore, the union is pressing for the government to allow schools and training centres with full-time teachers on staff access their pools as a solution.
