The Edelstein Prize recognizes and rewards an exceptional scholarly book on the history of technology. The prize, established in memory of Sidney Edelstein Barish (1906-1988) by Ruth Edelstein Barish’s estate and supported by Dexter Chemical Corporation, awards $3,500 and a plaque to its winner. Books published in English qualify immediately, while non-English publications become eligible three years after being published with an English translation.
The Sydney Peace Prize is presented each year to “a person or group that has made an exceptional effort toward furthering peace with justice.” It is given out by the City of Sydney, with substantial financial contributions provided as well as in-kind support. Each winner is celebrated annually at a ceremony at Sydney Town Hall.
Richard Ho and Lynn Scurfield’s Two New Years; Mari Lowe’s The Dubious Pranks of Shaindy Goodman; and Elana K Arnold’s The Blood Years have won this year. View all the winning titles on AJL’s Sydney Taylor Shmooze blog; review them all on our AJL Bookshelf; or order STBA seals to place on them and other bestsellers through our Shops page.
